Release of the Annual Report on China's Intellectual Property Operations (2022)
Recently, the Annual Report on China's Intellectual Property Operations (2022) (hereinafter referred to as the "Report") was officially released. The Report comprehensively and objectively describes the operation of China's intellectual property in 2022 from two dimensions: data and cases, and from three aspects: transfer and transformation, financing services, and system construction. The China National Intellectual Property Administration has organized the compilation and issuance of the Report for many consecutive years to provide government departments, enterprises and institutions and relevant practitioners with intellectual property operation data support and decision-making reference.
The report shows that the channels for realizing the value of intellectual property in China have been further streamlined, and the activity of intellectual property circulation has significantly increased, highlighting the role of promoting high-quality economic development. In 2022, the level of patent implementation and utilization in China has steadily improved, with a total of 507000 patent transfers, licenses, pledges, and other operations nationwide. Among them, the patent operations in 37 key cities for the construction of intellectual property operation service systems account for 44.8% of the total national operations, and the patent operations in 16 provinces with special plans for patent conversion account for 84.0% of the total national operations. In terms of empowering market entities through intellectual property finance, the national patent and trademark pledge financing amount reached 486.88 billion yuan in 2022, maintaining a growth rate of over 40% for three consecutive years, benefiting 26000 enterprises, of which 70.5% were small and medium-sized enterprises. As of the end of 2022, intellectual property insurance has provided over 110 billion yuan in risk protection for over 46000 patents, trademarks, geographical indications, and integrated circuit layout designs of over 28000 enterprises. A total of 91 intellectual property securitization products were issued on the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges nationwide, with an actual fundraising of 21 billion yuan. In terms of supporting brand economy and characteristic economy, in 2022, more than 3400 trademark brand guidance stations will be established nationwide, serving enterprises more than 400000 times annually. The total output value of 160 products and their related industries listed in the China National Intellectual Property Administration's list of geographical indication application promotion key contact guidance reached 680 billion yuan, driving more than 19 million employees.
